Join Strive Academics – Senior School Tutor
Strive Academics is seeking a friendly, patient, and empathetic Senior School tutor to support High School students across ATAR subjects in each state's curriculum. If you’re passionate about teaching, committed to helping students reach their full academic potential, and skilled at delivering engaging one-on-one or small group sessions, we’d love to hear from you.
You'll start with around 3 hours per week, with significant opportunity to grow your student base over time. We welcome applications from experienced tutors/educators with teaching qualifications and high-performing university students who can explain concepts clearly and build strong rapport with learners.
What you’ll need:
- A strong grasp of the state-based curriculum of the subjects you tutor (ATAR-focused)
- Reliable WiFi, your own computer, and a smartphone with data
- A professional, student-centred approach to tutoring
- Confidence delivering sessions online and/or in-person
- A positive attitude and commitment to educational excellence
We’re aiming to have you start by June 31st or earlier!
Key Responsibilities – Strive Academics Tutor (All Subjects)
- Deliver high-quality one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions across your subject area(s), including but not limited to English, Maths, Science, Humanities, and UCAT/medical interview preparation.
- Develop and implement personalised learning plans tailored to each student’s academic level, goals, and learning style. (via our platform)
- Monitor student progress, adapt teaching strategies as needed, and maintain accurate records of sessions, feedback, and outcomes. (via our platform)
- Communicate regularly with parents, guardians, and (when relevant) classroom teachers to align on goals and progress.
- Stay up to date with relevant curriculum standards (e.g. ATAR/VCE, NESA, QCAA, UCAT/interview guidelines).
- Use engaging, student-centred teaching methods to promote subject mastery, critical thinking, and academic confidence.
- Provide clear, constructive feedback and actionable guidance to support ongoing student improvement. (via our platform and during sessions)
- Be reliably available during agreed hours, including after-school times and weekends, to meet student needs.

Non-Negotiables – What We Expect at Strive Academics:
- A university student, recent high-achiever, experienced tutor, or qualified teacher
- A 97+ ATAR or a current teaching qualification (Bachelor’s degree or higher) in Education or a relevant subject area
- A current Working With Children Check (WWCC), or the ability to obtain one before commencing tutoring
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage students and explain concepts clearly and effectively
- Strong time management and organisational skills, ensuring punctuality, preparation, and consistency
- A positive, encouraging approach, with patience and empathy to support students of varying abilities
- Tech Savvy
- Available 3+ hours per week, with a minimum of one student at any time profile is listed on the platform
- Able to commit for at least 12 months
- Able to tutor for most weeks of the school year
- Prior tutoring or teaching experience is highly regarded, particularly for senior subjects (Years 11–12 and UCAT preparation)

Pay
Earn $40–$65 per hour, depending on subject and experience. Our tiered structure helps you grow your income, and we plan on increasing rates when our platform launches in mid-2025.
Pay increases are available as you grow with us.
