About the role
The role of Outpatients Administration Support Officer is to provide effective service delivery and patient focused support in accordance with West Moreton Hospital Health purposes and objectives, responding to general customer inquiries and providing timely and accurate information and assistance to clients and staff as outlined below.
Some of the key responsibilities of the role are:
Ensure patients and other staff are treated fairly and with mutual respect and understanding, regardless of cultural, religious, ethnic and linguistic backgrounds.
Grow and engage with new programs and processes adopted within the health service, with an openminded and willingness to learn.
Ensure prospective patients are placed on a respective waiting list, booked within time frames indicated and maintain lists by ensuring accurate and complete additions, amendments, ongoing verification and appropriate delegations.
Respond to general customer inquiries via phone, email and in person for patients and relatives whilst maintaining a professional and courteous manner.
Utilise systems to register and update all patient demographic information, Medicare details and referral details to ensure data integrity and patient confidentiality are maintained according to approved policies, guidelines and workplace instructions.
Organise patient appointments including arrival of patients, booking appointments, management of cancellation/rescheduling of clinics, managing wait lists and coordinating appointments with other services.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
Have strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment and autonomously when required.
Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
Positive and effective customer service.
Proficiency in the application of internal hospital information systems in addition to Microsoft Word and Excel.
Knowledge or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of basic medical terminology to extract and interpret pertinent information from patient medical records and hospital information systems.
Mandatory Requirements:
Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
