About the role
As a Thiess Health and Safety Advisor at the Curragh North Open Cut project, you will directly support the Health and Safety function, working closely with the on-site workforce and leadership team across all departments. You will contribute to planning, coordinating, and solving functional health and safety challenges while aligning with legislative and company standards.
Reporting to the Health, Safety & Training Superintendent, you’ll assist our workforce in implementing robust safety systems, managing Health and Safety incidents, and driving compliance. You’ll also collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders, including subcontractors, WorkCover Queensland, Clients and other regulatory bodies, ensuring high standards of Health and Safety performance.
The Curragh North Open Cut project is located 30kms from Blackwater in Central QLD, working an 8/6 roster, your main responsibilities will include:
- Assist with the co-ordination of all functional Health and Safety issues including the maintenance of relevant records, reports and registers.
- Play a core role in the implementation, application and co-ordination of the injury management process
- Support and actively drive a strong safety culture and liaise and coordinate with departments and stakeholders to achieve the site's safety objectives and initiatives.
- Champion the adherence to all applicable Legislation and statutory obligations within the context of our Project Scope, at all times
About you
- A genuine passion for supporting and contributing to the Health and Safety of workers
- Tertiary qualification in Health & Safety.
- G1 G8 G9 (Formally S123) and G2
- ICAM Facilitator training and experience in facilitating and developing reports through ICAM Investigations and Root Cause analysis Methods
- The ability to facilitate and complete Workplace Risk Assessments
- Ability to build strong working relationships and rapport with both internal and external stakeholders
- High attention to detail and Problem-Solving Skills
- Strong computer literacy skills, Including the competent use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Adobe Systems
- Experience in Injury Management and workplace rehabilitation coordination.
- Experience with Document Control and utilising Governance systems is desirable
