About the Opportunity
Minderoo Foundation is seeking a proactive and strategic Advisor, Media to join our Communications and Campaigns team. In this role, you will contribute to high-impact media engagement that builds our reputation and amplifies the work of Minderoo and our partners. You will play an active part in developing and delivering integrated media strategies that support our organisational goals, while also supporting the day-to-day media function.
Reporting to the Manager, Media, your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the daily media function, including media monitoring, responding to enquiries and drafting media releases and briefing materials
- Providing expert strategic media and communications advice to senior staff
- Contributing to the development and execution of integrated media strategies and campaigns
- Managing and growing relationships with key media stakeholders
- Supporting the training and coordination of organisational spokespeople, ensuring alignment with guidelines and strategies
- Monitoring and advising on emerging media issues or reputational risks and supporting timely, coordinated responses
Qualifications
About You
You are a collaborative communicator with a keen news sense and a track record of delivering effective media engagement. You enjoy working cross-functionally, can manage multiple priorities and are confident supporting leaders to engage strategically with media.
You will bring:
- Tertiary qualifications in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or a related discipline, and/or equivalent industry experience
- Demonstrated experience in a media, journalism or strategic communications role
- A strong understanding of the media landscape and experience managing media issues and risks
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to craft clear, compelling content under pressure
- Strong relationship-building skills, with experience engaging media contacts and working with internal stakeholders
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with strong attention to detail and sound political and reputational judgement
- Experience working in complex or mission-driven environments (not-for-profit, government or similar) is desirable
