About the Role
Are you ready to shape the future of transport infrastructure through cutting-edge flood modelling and surface water engineering? We’re looking for a passionate and experienced Associate Flood Modeller / Hydrologist to join our high-performing Bridges, Aviation & Roads (BAR) team based in Brisbane or the Sunshine Coast.

What You’ll Do
- Lead and deliver surface water modelling for major transport infrastructure projects.
- Undertake flood impact assessments, waterway assessments, and surface water modelling.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate flood modelling and drainage design into large-scale infrastructure planning.
- Prepare high-quality technical reports, manage project deliverables, and liaise with clients and stakeholders.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a collaborative, future-focused team culture.
- Support proposal development and contribute to business growth across Queensland.
About You
You will have:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
- At least 10 years’ experience in flood modelling and surface water engineering for transport infrastructure. Experience in drainage design would also be looked upon favourably, but is not required.
- Demonstrated proficiency in tools like TUFLOW, WBNM, RORB, HEC-RAS, XP-RAFTS, 12D, DRAINS, MUSIC, and QGIS platforms.
- Strong knowledge of ARR, TMR standards, and Austroads guidelines. Experience with rail projects would also be beneficial to the role.
- Experience in CFD modelling and/or programming languages (e.g. python) is a plus, but not a requirement for the role.
- Demonstrated ability to lead or contribute to flood impact assessments and waterway assessments for infrastructure planning and design.
- The ability to work across multiple office locations and projects if required.
- Experience working with State road authorities (e.g., TMR, TfNSW) is highly regarded.
- Excellent communication skills and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset.
