The Opportunity
Orrcon Steel is looking for an Automation Technician in our Maintenance and Reliability team based in Unanderra. Orrcon Steel is a manufacturer of steel tube and pipe and leading Australian steel distributor with nationally recognised brands. Join a cutting-edge project as an Automation Technician, working hands-on with some of the most advanced and innovative equipment in the pipe and tube industry. You’ll be part of a close knit, experienced team, developing practical and real world skills. You'll play a key role in building, testing, and optimising sophisticated systems in a fast-paced, forward-thinking environment. This is a day work role with some flexibility in starting and finishing times, nominally 7am – 3pm.
What Will You Do?
As someone who is keen to leverage their technical expertise with new automation equipment, you’ll:
- be hands-on with assembling, wiring, and setting up automation equipment and control panels
- support the build and testing of systems to make sure everything runs smoothly and safely
- work alongside our engineers and co-coordinators to troubleshoot and fine-tune the operations
- support with installing new and modified equipment on-site and making sure it’s all working as it should
- pitch in with maintenance and upgrades to keep systems performing at their best
- learn as you go – the tech’s always evolving, and you’ll pick up new skills along the way
More About You
You’ll be a safety focused and have a passion for problem solving, you’ll:
- holds a current Electrical License with a Certificate III in Electrotechnology - an Instrumentation qualification would be highly regarded
- have a good working knowledge of Australian Standards/ International related to automation systems
- interpret electrical drawings and troubleshoot control systems with confidence
- communicates clearly and collaborates well with team and stakeholders
- proactive and resourceful – takes ownership of tasks and adapts to changing project needs
