The Role

  • Provide advice to stakeholders on complex business intelligence activities.
  • Prepare clear work plans, strategies and team goals and identify broader influences that may impact on the team's work objectives.
  • Understand and utilise internal and external professional knowledge and experience to improve work.
  • Research and draw on information from diverse sources to determine what information is important.
  • Work collaboratively with team members as well as stakeholders, operate as an effective team member and provide constructive feedback.
  • Design solutions to assess data quality impacting on the achievement of desired outcomes.
  • Resolve problems using expertise, taking the initiative to identify alternative courses of action.

About our Team
The Smart Buyer (SB) and Independent Assurance Reviews (IAR) Directorates are part of the Independent Project and Portfolio Management Office, within the Strategy, Planning and Independent Assurance Division of the Capability Acquisition & Sustainment Group (CASG). Both Directorates play a critical role in facilitating project strategy development to Defence projects/products. The Smart Buyer Operations’ key role is coordinating a series of mandated, complex workshops prior to key Committee decision points. The Independent Assurance Review (IAR) Directorate undertakes assessments of major capital acquisition projects and sustainment products prior to key project milestones. The reviews provide high quality and reliable advice to the Defence Senior Leadership Group and Government regarding the status of these Projects and Products.

  • Perform complex tasks and activities, work to agreed priorities and outcomes that support the delivery of procedural, operational, administrative and business support activities across Defence.
  • Accountable to respond to complex operational, procedural, administrative and business support related enquiries and apply the skills, knowledge and experience necessary to provide advice and services.
  • Identify and interpret relevant legislation, work practices, procedures and policies and apply these to the work area.
  • Work collaboratively, operate as an effective team member, and provide constructive feedback.
  • Have high-level prioritisation skills and be accustomed to working within a dynamic and high productivity environment responding quickly to changing demands within tight timeframes.
  • Be capable of working with a wide variety of customers and stakeholders.
