This role is based in our WHSmith Australia Support Office in Woolloomooloo (10-minute walk from Town Hall station).
About the Position
As a Buying Assistant at WHSmith, you’ll play a vital role in supporting the end-to-end buying process. This is an admin focused role where you’ll be responsible for maintaining accurate product data, managing supplier communications, processing orders, and coordinating with internal teams to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing item creation and maintenance.
- Ensuring price accuracy in merchandise systems.
- Accurately updating item details for promotional programs.
- Creating and maintaining line sheets for distribution to the relevant team, with correct images and information.
- Managing communication with Buyers and suppliers regarding delivery timelines, changes in delivery methods etc.
- Collaborating with internal teams, external stakeholders, and suppliers to ensure cohesive operations.
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will have the following qualities which are essential:
- A background in admin (min. 2-3 years) or as a Buying Assistant
- A passion for learning and a proactive mindset.
- Exceptional organisational skills & attention to detail.
- Previous exposure to the retail industry is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills.
- Excellent analytical abilities with a keen attention to detail.
