Your role at St John of God Midland Hospital
We are seeking several Café Hosts to join our friendly team based at St John of God Midland Hospital in a casual capacity to work shifts between 6am and 8am, Monday to Sunday. As a Café Host you will provide a high standard of hospitality and service to our customers in our café whilst operating in a cost effective manner. Previous experience in barista services and retail/cash handing would be highly desirable.
The Position
- Make a deliberate, personal effort to engage with café customers.
- Maintain a high standard of customer service: through friendliness, speed and efficiency.
- Maintain high levels of personal presentation, customer interaction, constructive communication and teamwork.
- Perform hot and cold food production as required (and to the menu standards).
- Make delicious coffees as required (and to the correct specification).
- Process customer payments at the till with friendliness, speed and accuracy (collecting correct payment from all customers).
- Adhere to the café standards for product presentation and portion size.
- Ensure the security of cash, stock and equipment.
- Ensure displays are well stocked and merchandised.
- Use own initiative to solve minor problems as they arise during the shift.
- Perform appropriate duties in the gift shop, as required from time-to-time.
- Maintain high levels of general cleanliness and food hygiene standards – in all front-of-house areas.
- Follow the correct procedures for regular handwashing.
- Assist in the dishwashing process as required during each shift.
- Assist in maintaining the cleanliness of kitchen and storage areas as required.
- All other reasonable duties as directed by the relevant Manager/Supervisor
Position Requirements
You will have a commitment to customer service with a high standard of personal presentation and punctuality with food handling skills, including awareness of food hygiene standards. If you don’t already hold, you will have a willingness to learn new coffee and food production skills.
To succeed you will have the ability to work both autonomously and within a team and verbally communicate effectively with colleagues and customers. You will have an understanding of and ability to apply occupational and safety principles to ensure own safety and that of others in the workplace.
