The Southport School is a leading Anglican Day and Boarding School for boys situated on the banks of the Nerang River in the heart of the Gold Coast. We are seeking a passionate and future focused Careers Advisor to join our dedicated team, supporting our students in Senior School as they navigate academic pathways, vocational options and life beyond the school gates. Commencing in January 2026 and reporting to the Director of Student Pathways you will work closely with students, families and staff to provide career advice and guidance to students to support their successful transition from school to further study, training or employment.
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- An understanding of careers-related matters including curriculum, vocational and tertiary policies and processes
- A commitment to nurturing positive relationships between students, parents and stakeholders
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills necessary to work with all members of the school community
- An awareness of labour market trends, current and emerging industries, job roles and skills in demand
Aligned with our School values of Teamwork, Scholarship and Service, we are seeking a relational leader who brings continued passion and excitement to our Careers Program. Experience in a boarding school environment is highly regarded as is a genuine passion for boys’ education and an understanding of how to engage boys in ways that make them feel valued and supported across academic, wellbeing, spiritual, sporting and cultural domains.
