Why this role matters
The Doorways to Parenting program works with a diverse range of parents and families who are referred from Child Safety Services, The Advice and Referral line, AOD Services, well as Salvation Army Corps, Doorways and other internal Social Programs.The Doorways to Parenting program operates within the Tasmanian Division of The Salvation Army (TSA) Southern Territory.
Doorways to Parenting provides a family focused program with a common goal of maintaining strong relationships with all community stakeholders to achieve a better outcome for parents and children as well as the community.

About the role
We are seeking a values-driven and proactive Case Worker to support and maintain contact with families engaging in the services through parenting programs and outreach case management services.
Reporting to the Doorways to Parenting Lead Practitioner and State Manager, this is a fixed term (until 2026), part-time (22.8 hours per week) position based in Launceston, Tasmania. Salary and conditions are in accordance with SCHADS Level 4.
Please note this position is providing services to the Tamar Valley Launceston Statistical Area (such as Georgetown and Beaconsfield), which will involve a significant amount of independent outreach.
You will successfully
  • Promote safe and secure parent/child attachments including emotional and physical safety.
  • Facilitate two evidence-based parenting and child programs.
  • Establish effective relationships with external stakeholders to ensure delivery KPI’s are met.
  • Assist families and children in their physical, intellectual, emotional, and social development.
  • Develop individual case plans in collaboration with clients.
  • Assist clients to access support services and establish community supports.
  • Provide accurate and timely reports of program activities and case work in compliance with external funding requirements.
  • Identify risks to clients, staff and TSA bring it to the attention of the Lead Practitioner or State Manager as soon as possible.
You will have
  • A tertiary qualification in Social Work or similar profession, Diploma of Welfare Studies or related field with extensive experience working with families including facilitating group work and providing case work services.
  • Accredited to facilitate Tuning into Kids and/or Sib Works
  • A current and valid Working with Vulnerable People Check.
  • A current Tasmanian Driver's License.
  • The ability to work independently completing outreach tasks providing outreach services to the target group.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills including the ability to network and negotiate effectively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders, including Government and strategic partners.
