Carrington is a not-for-profit center of excellence for retirees and has been providing state-of-the-art services and accommodation for independent living, residential care, and community care since 1889. Located in the historic village of Camden, Carrington is situated on 400 acres with an idyllic garden and bushland setting, with sweeping views over the Camden Valley.
THE OPPORTUNITY
As a Kitchen Hand, you will p repare and cook sandwiches & salads according to dietary requirements and preferences across our four Residential Care Facilities and Assisted Living facility. Your preparation of healthy & nutritious meals will ensure our residents have an enjoyable eating experience, while catering to their nutritional and dietary needs. We currently have 3-month Part Time contracts available, with pathways to permanent employment as rosters become available.
Responsibilities:
- Preparing and cooking meals adhering to IDDSI (International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative) guidelines for food preparation, including modified texture foods
- Preparing catering orders as needed for onsite events, including bulk sandwich production
- Assisting in meal delivery driving to ensure timely and efficient service around campus
- Supporting Chefs with kitchen operations, including food prep and cleaning duties Maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene
ABOUT YOU
Essential Criteria
- Sandwich Hand & commercial kitchen experience
- Passion for cooking & nutritious meals
- Driver’s license and reliable transport
- Flexible to work a variety of shifts - early/late shifts & weekend work
- Demonstrated ability to work without supervision as well as a part of a team
- Excellent time management skills
- Right to work in Australia
- Completion of a pre-employment assessment and a National Criminal History check clearance
Desirable
- Previous experience adhering to IDDSI (International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative) guidelines for food preparation Some exposure to food and beverage experience
