Why this Role Matters
The Salvation Army (Salvos) is one of Australia’s largest providers of alcohol and other drug (AOD) programs including withdrawal management, residential and non-residential rehabilitation, and harm reduction programs. Salvos services go beyond addressing the core issues and challenges associated with problematic substance abuse and provide participants a place of hope, compassion, and dignity to recover safely.
About the Role
Reporting to the Centre Manager of Townsville AOD Services, the Client Services Lead plays a key leadership role within The Salvation Army's Townsville leadership team. This position is responsible for leading and supporting a team of case managers to deliver high-quality Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) case management services across three key service streams: Youth Residential, Adult Residential, and Youth Outreach Services extend to outpost locations in Ayr, Ingham and Charters Towers. It includes delivery of pre- and post-residential support.
How you will make an impact:
As a Client Services Lead, you will:
  • Provide supervision, guidance, and support to case managers to ensure client-focused, high-quality service delivery.
  • Ensure case management practices align with the specific models of care for Youth and Adult services.
  • Promote and embed the Journey to Independence Model and Psychologically Informed Environment (PIE) framework within youth programs.
  • Lead the daily coordination and operational oversight of residential, outreach, pre- and post-recovery supports, and post-residential housing programs, ensuring seamless integration across roles and services.
  • Manage program resources including material aid and brokerage support for clients.
  • Foster strong, collaborative partnerships with community organisations and service agencies.
What you will bring:
  • A degree in Social Work, Social Sciences, or a related field (required).
  • Proven leadership experience in staff supervision and team management.
  • Experience in delivering case management within an AOD residential context (desirable).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with proficiency in IT systems.
  • Excellent organisational and administrative abilities, with the capacity to manage competing priorities in a dynamic AOD service environment.
  • A current Blue Card (Working with Children Check – Employee) is required before commencement.
  • A valid driver’s licence.
