- Salary range: $86,436 - $101,868 (pro rata) plus super plus salary packaging
- Up to $15,900 in salary packaging and hybrid WFH & office model
About the role
Independent Mental Health Advocacy (IMHA) is a non-legal advocacy program that is staffed and led by professionals with mental health consumer experience and/or backgrounds in community development, consumer advocacy, mental health advocacy, community sector advocacy, social work, mental health service provision and similar fields.

This role supports the Senior Consumer Consultant and Consumer Consultant in providing a lived experience perspective of neurodivergence into the development of strategic initiatives across Independent Mental Health Advocacy and Victoria Legal Aid. The role also facilitates a neurodiversity lived experience advisory group and contributes to strategic advocacy work across the organisation as required from a neurodivergent perspective.
This role is based at our Melbourne CBD office on Wurundjeri Country.

- Demonstrated expertise in applying own neurodivergent consumer experience of the mental health systems and an ability to apply this perspective through advocacy that elevates consumer voices.
- In depth understanding of issues and barriers experienced by people who are neurodivergent and use our services.
- Experience convening and facilitating consumer and lived experience groups in a way that is safe, appropriate, attends to power and is responsive to diverse needs and backgrounds.
- Demonstrated ability to liaise and communicate effectively with consumers from diverse backgrounds, various stakeholders and organisations.
