About the Role
Delivering strong commercial outcomes on our projects is paramount to BMD’s sustainability. In a Cost Engineer role, you will effectively support the execution of cost control services on a major MRPV project in the heartland of northeast Melbourne. Your role will include;
- Previous experience in cost control, estimation, risk management and financial reporting at similar Construction project
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical and reporting skills
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Previous experience with the Oracle (JD Edwards), FPM, Primavera (P6) and Production/Productivity management systems is desirable
- Proficient in MS Office
- Performs routine cost estimating, analysis, and control activities, as directed
- Supports the implementation of cost monitoring and control standards, techniques, systems, and reports
- Assists with budget allocation and reporting/cost control for specific construction discipline or group of disciplines
- Supports the preparation of cost data for proposals or contracts
- Assists in the development of quantity take-offs for a specific discipline or specialty
- Assists in developing specific project codes of accounts and recommends appropriate modifications and revisions
The successful candidate will be a self-starter with:
- Qualifications in Engineering / Quantity Surveying / Construction Management or Finance
- Experience in a similar cost engineering or project controls role on large infrastructure projects
- Proven ability to manage cost forecasting, variance analysis and reporting
- Strong working knowledge of construction financial systems, preferably JD Edwards, FPM and Primavera (P6)
- Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- High attention to detail and strong analytical skills
- Excellent time management and the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure
