- Employment type: Temporary full-time to 30 June 2026 with potential for part time or job share and possibility of extension.
- Grade: Crown Employees (Interpreters and Translators, Multicultural NSW) Award
Your role
The Court Interpreter role is responsible for delivering accurate, high-quality interpreting services at NSW Courts in the relevant community language. It facilitates communication between parties who do not speak the same language, ensuring fair and equal access to justice for all participants.
What you’ll do
As part of the Language Services team at Multicultural NSW, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality interpreting services within the NSW Court environment. You will ensure a high level of accuracy and attention to detail in a fast-paced, complex setting. Your duties include interpreting for a variety of court matters onsite at various NSW Court locations, five days a week.
You will also manage competing priorities in a high-volume environment, communicate sensitively with diverse customers to facilitate communication, and stay up to date with industry developments to maintain compliance with current standards and codes of ethics.
What we’re looking for
- Current NAATI Certified Interpreter certification in Arabic or Mandarin, and valid Working With Children’s Check
- Over five years’ experience interpreting in court settings
- Demonstrated high level of skill in simultaneous and consecutive interpreting
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to perform well under pressure.
- Flexibly to travel to various court locations across Sydney and NSW and to take on other interpreting duties as needed.
