About the Role
Our Lower Yarra Field Delivery team, have two fixed term contracts for experienced Crew Leads to join our team. These roles is based at our Olinda depot in Lilydale, however it is an operational, field based role, and is responsible for undertaking and coordinating maintenance activities and minor civil works.
The team plays a crucial role in maintaining our drainage infrastructure, waterways, and providing emergency response services to ensure minimal disruption to customers and to protect and improve the environment and public health. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Ensuring the successful, safe, and timely delivery of emergency works, and maintenance of water supply infrastructure
- Taking care of own and colleagues Health and Safety through identification and reporting of hazards and active involvement in improvement initiatives.
- To coordinate work in a team environment.
- To work with and provide in field oversight of crew while undertaking various on-ground activities.
- Assist in the provision of on the job training for crews.
- Competent in completing all relevant documentation in relation to work sites and equipment.
- Responsible for ensuring the quality of own work and that of the team.

About you:
- Demonstrated experience and capabilities coordinating, leading, and working with crews in a maintenance environment.
- Certificate/Diploma in relevant disciplines or relevant work experience
- Other qualifications such as Industry White Card, Chainsaw Ticket, Confined Space Entry, Fall Prevention, Plant Machinery competency, etc. as required
- Ability to take responsibility for own role in ensuring the safety of all team members and other personnel on site
- Problem solving skills, including the ability to deliver the appropriate outcomes
- Sound interpersonal skills and an ability to lead and communicate clearly and effectively with a wide range of people both within Melbourne Water, external organisations and with the general public.
- Ability to lead, work and contribute in a team environment to improve processes, respond to various demands and manage multiple activities simultaneously
- Ability to work under pressure and in emergency situations
- Experience in minor civil maintenance works, including fence repairs, litter and debris removal, plant and power tool operations,
- Requires excellent communication and team collaboration skills to lead, motivate, and align crew.
- Ability to facilitate continuous improvement initiatives with in team.
