Effluent Treatment Manager, Fulltime, Location Whale Point Hatchery

We are seeking a dedicated Effluent Treatment Manager (ETM) to take ownership of our Wastewater Treatment System (WWTS) and play a vital role in ensuring operational compliance, environmental stewardship, and the ongoing performance of our Recirculating Aquaculture System (RAS).

You will be working closely with our hatchery attendant teams, you will be the driving force behind responsible waste management, system optimisation, and regulatory compliance.

What you will be doing

• Manage all aspects of WWTS performance, including flows, solid removal, and chemical efficiency.
• Managing all safety aspects of the WWTS.
• Oversee biofilter function and ensure water quality compliance.
• Conduct and manage environmental sampling, testing and analysis.
• Monitor effluent sludge discharge, ensuring optimal system flow and environmental safety.
• Maintain regulatory compliance and reporting across all wastewater activities.
• Prepare detailed performance reports and manage chemical usage and stock levels.
• Coordinate with hatchery teams and stakeholders for efficient waste processing.
• Respond to and manage spills or leaks in line with regulations.
• Drive continuous improvement in environmental performance.
• Supporting all southern Hatchery sites as required.

What you will bring

• Degree in Environmental Science or relates discipline (or equivalent industry experience).
• Demonstrated experience in managing or operating WWTS.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong stakeholder engagement abilities and teamwork focused.
• Exceptional time management and adaptability.
• Sound understanding of environmental legislation and compliance requirements.
• Passion for safety, continuous improvement, and environmental responsibility.
