Salary: $110,279 - $119,376 per annum + Super
The opportunity:
We are seeking an Environmental Health & Safety Specialist to join our caring and committed Environmental Health & Safety team. You will play a key role in helping us achieve our EHS vision of Safe, Healthy, Well. Everyone, Everywhere. Excellence.
The EHS team is responsible for providing effective direction, solutions, guidance and support for all at MCRI to achieve positive Health, Safety, Wellbeing and Sustainability outcomes.
Reporting to the Head of EHS, you will provide generalist EHS support to research groups and staff working across fieldwork, clinical, laboratory, and office work environments. The position will have primary responsibility for emergency management planning. This position will also be involved in delivering programs on lone work, travel safety, office ergonomics, and health and wellbeing promotion.
Your responsibilities include:
Emergency management planning
Act as the primary contact for fieldwork safety
Fieldwork, lone work, travel safety programs
Ergonomic assessments
Health and wellbeing promotion
Incident investigations
Provide authoritative and expert guidance, support and advice on a range of hazards and issues primarily affecting field, office, clinical and laboratory areas
What we need from you:
OHS qualifications or related qualifications and experience within science and/or health related fields
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, SharePoint, Teams)
Advanced written and oral communication and presentation skills
High degree of attention to detail and accuracy in communications and reporting
Excellent teamwork skills; a true collaborator
Well-developed creative, innovative and problem-solving skills
Strong prioritisation, research, multi-tasking, organisational and planning skills
