We're looking for an experienced Facility Manager for an immediate start, to oversee the day-to-day operations of our multi-use leisure facility. This is a hands-on role that also involves contributing to strategic direction and financial planning. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in facility management, with strong leadership skills and a proven ability to manage both people and operations. Experience in community engagement is essential, as we strive to create a welcoming and inclusive space for all.
Responsibilities during your placement include:
- Undertaking a Request for Quote (RFQ) process for a new Leisure Management Software System in compliance with the Shire's procurement process and policies. Worker's involvement is to extend to the full-project cycle i.e. drafting of RFQ documentation in line with current templates, assessing quotes, contract management, implementation and rollout
- Undertaking workforce development planning to prepare for the Aquatic Redevelopment opening and in the context of new Dry Side Centre redevelopment
- Recruiting and training staff in preparation for the Aquatic facilities opening
- Developing a business plan for year one of the Aquatic operations
- Coordinating day to day operations of aquatics, gym and dry side, always ensuring compliance is to government standards
Essential Requirements
- Tertiary qualifications (minimum Diploma level) in Recreation Management
- Business Administration, or similar community-focused discipline, or demonstrated relevant experience for a minimum of 5 years.
- Current unrestricted WA C class driver's licence
- Current Senior First Aid Certificate (d) Western Australian Swimming Pool Operators certificate or equivalent Australian certificate
- Minimum 3 years in a management role in a recreation or aquatic centre environment
- Proven ability in strategic and operational planning, budget preparation, and financial management
- Experience in day-to-day coordination of multi-use facilities, including sports, leisure, and aquatics
- Demonstrated success in staff leadership, team building, and performance management
Desirable requirements;
- Knowledge or exposure to Pilbara, Kimberley, or other regional community dynamics
- Familiarity with recreation programming for diverse populations (e.g. youth, disability, Indigenous communities)
- Previous experience in Local Government.
As a part of the Employment Requirements successful candidates must provide:
- 100-point identification check
- Valid National Police Clearance (no older than 6 months)
- Appropriate rights to work in Australia
- Pre-employment medical clearance
- Compliance with any vaccination requirements mandated by Australian or Western Australian Government regulations
- Must have Full Australian Working Rights
