The Opportunity: We have a mix of permanent and causal opportunities to join our Softwood Plantation Division as a Forestry Worker which will see you performing a variety of field-based tasks in the great outdoors. You will also be part of the organisation's fire readiness strategy.

About the role: To ensure that forest operations, including road maintenance and construction, pest animal and weed control, hazard reduction burning, firefighting and recreation area maintenance are carried out for the Region in a safe, effective and productive manner to established legislative, environmental and safety standards.
You’ll be involved in a variety of activities such as: • Bushfire fighting • Hazard reduction burning • Weed control • Road and fire trail maintenance • Building and facilities maintenance • Vehicle and equipment upkeep • Assisting with operations for other functions (Roading, Planning, Silviculture)
Essential skills required: • Demonstrated experience or skills in forestry, farming, outdoor, or construction work. • Ability to work as part of a team, meeting deadlines and standards. • A valid driver’s license – provisional and above • A positive attitude and commitment to our core values.
Highly regarded Skills & Experience: • Truck licence (MR, HR, HC, etc.) • Experience with heavy plant operation or chainsaws. • Prior bushfire fighting experience. • First aid, use of chemicals, 4WD and off road, or any other relevant competencies. • Studying or holding qualifications in Forestry, Environmental Science, or Natural Sciences.
Pre-employment screening requirements: The successful applicant will be required to complete: • Drug and Alcohol Screening • Medical Assessment • Fire Task-Based Assessment (TBA) Candidates must be fit to perform firefighting duties, which may involve working in smoky conditions and navigating uneven or steep terrain. Employment offers will depend on meeting the physical requirements and passing the pre-employment medical assessment. High-risk conditions such as respiratory or heart conditions may prevent some candidates from meeting the inherent role requirements, in line with AFAC (Australasian Fire and Emergency Services Authorities Council) guidelines.
