How you can help make a better world of work
As the clear owner of all payroll processes, you will ensure accurate and timely delivery of payroll and related financial information to the business, external partners, and the Finance Team. You will own the vision and strategy for payroll operations, identifying process improvements and optimising workflows to support a growing and evolving business. A key focus will be preparing the payroll function for scaling to cater for the growing business, including playing a key role in leading payroll transformation projects which will include refining processes, documentation of policies and processes, as well as consideration of how payroll resources are best allocated.
You will collaborate closely with the Finance and People & Experience teams, setting clear expectations, sharing priorities, and using your expertise to amplify the skills and capabilities of others.

You will
- Manage and oversee the payroll function and its priorities, ensuring timely and accurate execution of day-to-day payroll processes across multiple jurisdictions - Australia, United States, United Kingdom, Germany and New Zealand.
- Lead a global payroll team to success, through clear and supportive leadership, fostering team collaboration and getting the best out of our amazing team.
- Drive continuous improvement and growth within the payroll team, providing clear development opportunities and empowering team members to make decisions and innovate.
- Lead key transformation projects (c. 30% time) working closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless and compliant execution
- Where we have an outsource payroll provider, own these relationships, ensuring continued accuracy, compliance, and operational excellence.
- Deliver reliable, complete, and transparent payroll information and analysis that supports business decision-making and maintains robust internal controls.
- Maintain effective stakeholder management across Finance and the wider business, setting clear timelines, managing expectations, and communicating progress proactively.
- Protect employees and the company by ensuring payroll compliance with all applicable tax and regulatory requirements, including ESOP reporting, payroll tax, and global tax obligations.
- Contribute actively to the Finance Team culture, collaborating closely with peers, sharing knowledge, and aligning individual and team goals with broader company objectives.
You are
- Able to communicate complex payroll situations and solutions clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
- Detail-oriented and meticulous, able to quickly identify anomalies and validate data accuracy using reconciliations and cross-checks.
- A proactive stakeholder manager, adopting a business partner mindset that builds trust and positions Finance as a customer-focused enabler.
- Highly organised, skilled at creating structure and clarity amid ambiguity in a rapidly growing business environment.
- A problem solver with a “can-do” attitude who develops practical solutions and knows when to seek input.
- A people manager who enjoys coaching and developing team members to reach their full potential.
You have
- 10+ years’ experience in payroll roles, with exposure to multi-jurisdiction payrolls.
- Deep familiarity with payroll compliance regimes in APAC, North America, and EMEA, and proven experience managing third-party compliance providers (must-have: US & AU; nice-to-have: UK, Germany, NZ).
- Experience in successfully leading or being a key member of payroll transformation project(s).
- Experience working in hyper-growth environments and adapting payroll functions to scale rapidly.
- Demonstrated ability to self-learn new jurisdiction requirements and communicate changes effectively to stakeholders.
- A track record of driving innovative thinking and leading implementation of new policies and procedures to optimise payroll.
- Proven leadership style that motivates, engages, and develops teams in complex environments.
- Expertise in building and maintaining strong internal controls to ensure financial information reliability and protect company assets.
