Are you passionate about aviation and thrive in a fast-paced, safety-critical environment? Then we want to hear from you. Due to continued growth PHI has a newly created position for a Ground Operations Officer on a 7:7 roster, residential in Broome.
You will be responsible for coordination of aircraft movements, liaising with flight crews and external providers, maintaining of accurate records and documentation.
Reporting to the Base Contracts Manager and Operations Centre Supervisor you will play a pivotal role in the success of safe and efficient execution of daily operations.
Responsibilities of the role include:
- Coordinate with Perth ROC and Broome Heliport to ensure correct flight information is passed to the pilots.
- Coordinate with Perth ROC, Broome Heliport, and customer representatives regarding bumped passengers, AOD results, no show passengers, etc.
- Coordinate with the Perth ROC regarding delays and work with ROC to implement necessary schedule adjustments.
- Manage the receipt and processing of customer freight, ensuring accurate manifesting and coordinate with Ramp Attendants to send on relevant flight.
- Review and assess email requests in collaboration with the Supply Officer Supervisor for the transport of Dangerous Goods (DG), approving or denying shipments in accordance with regulations.
- Receive, save, and accurately record fuel receipts.
- Monitor and maintain an adequate inventory of customer supplies (e.g., baggage destination labels, passenger packing bags) and place orders as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Operations Centre Supervisor or Base Manager or required to assist Senior Base Engineers and Senior Base Pilots.
To be considered for this role, you will need:
- Prior experience in supporting aviation operations, ground operations, heliport operations or ramp operations in an aviation setting is highly advantageous.
- Experience working in a fast-paced operational/customer service environment within an Aviation, Emergency Service, Defence, Mining, or Oil and Gas field or similar is advantageous.
- Demonstrated experience working in rotary-wing operational environment (desirable but not essential).
- Aeronautical Radio Operators Certificate (AROC) is advantageous.
- Certificate in Dangerous Goods Acceptance (by Air) is advantageous
- Experience in AirMaestro, RAMCO, or similar is desirable but not essential.
About you:
- Ability to utilise VHF/UHF Radio, good understanding and use of the phonetic alphabet and radio protocols.
- Strong multitasking and decision-making skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks to ensure effective sequence of operational activities.
- Proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to anticipate needs, take initiative, and take ownership of tasks without requiring direction.
- Demonstrated ability in the utilisation of Standard Operating Procedures and ability to demonstrate understanding of utilising these procedures in a high tempo coordination environment.
- Maintaining proper focus and discipline while conducting flight and/or safety sensitive duties.
- Proven ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and professionally with staff, clients, and other stakeholders while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in high-tempo situations.
- Demonstrated ability to utilise databases, dispatch systems and record management systems effectively and accurately.
