Purpose of the Role
BGIS is seeking an energetic and adaptable Maintenance Technician (Handy Person) to support the day-to-day operations of an iconic multi-purpose world-class Venue on the banks of the Swan River. This role offers the opportunity to be part of major sporting and entertainment events while contributing to the smooth running of a world-class facility.
The role is perfect for a hands-on problem solver who enjoys variety, thrives in a team environment, and takes pride in keeping facilities safe and fully operational.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out general maintenance and repair tasks (painting, plumbing, tiling, carpentry, minor fit-outs, and more) ⚒️
- Provide game day support as part of the First Response Team, ensuring a seamless experience for patrons and stakeholders
- Assist with preventative and reactive maintenance across a wide range of building systems and equipment
- Work closely with BGIS colleagues, subcontractors, and venue operators to deliver efficient service
- Participate in periodic inspections, reporting, and hazard identification to maintain a safe environment
- Contribute to a positive, close-knit team culture
Education, Experience & Skills
Essential:
- 1+ years’ experience in building maintenance, facilities support, or handy person services (all levels encouraged to apply)
- Ability to work in a physical, hands-on role with regular manual handling
- Problem-solving skills and a “fix it” mindset
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Full working rights in Australia
Desirable:
- Trade qualification (carpentry, painting, plumbing, or similar)
- Experience in commercial or large public facilities
- First Aid, EWP ticket, or safety training
