About the role
Achieving our vision of enabling regional prosperity requires the Barwon Water Group to be continually improving and driven by a culture of entrepreneurialism and high performance. As part of the senior leadership team, you’ll help shape our future direction, fostering a culture of courageous problem solving, innovation and impact that brings value to our community and customers.
This newly created role will be responsible for driving strategic and sustainable growth by expanding our customer base, strengthening relationships, and identifying new ways to solve problems and create value in the water sector.
You’ll align strategies, plans and policies across the organisation to accelerate delivery, by creating a clear line of sight between daily work and organisational strategic goals. You’ll lead the implementation of initiatives, stay close to the work, and help shape an operating model that enables long-term success.
This is a hands-on role. You’ll actively promote our business, build relationships, open doors to new opportunities, and just as importantly, you’ll stay grounded and connected with our people. You’ll be at ease working with everyone from front-line crews to the executive team and Board.
Strong commercial capability, particularly in contract management, will be essential, especially as we grow into new areas such as renewable energy.

About you
You’re a respected professional with leadership and strategic commercial experience. You build trusted relationships easily, and you influence with integrity and clarity. You’re familiar with the water or energy sector and you bring an inquisitive mindset, always looking for new ways to create value and solve problems.
With a bachelor's degree or higher in business, commerce, or similar, you’re experienced in strategic business development, key account management, and commercial contracts. You’re financially savvy and you understand of how to align business success with sustainability and community benefit.
Not only a strategic thinker, but a practical doer, comfortable leading multi-disciplined work groups, managing complex projects and adapting in real time. You take initiative, act with courage and bring people with you. You know how to balance ambition with empathy, and you’re driven by impact, not ego.
