Position Information

Ariah Park Central is the only school in a small, rural community 100 kilometres north-west of Wagga. The school strives to provide equity of access to educational opportunities across the Kindergarten to Year 12 curriculum while encouraging a culture of caring support in a family atmosphere. We have recently embedded the Berry Street Education Model in our school as well as The Resilience Project. As part of the Riverina Access Program which delivers senior secondary curriculum via video conferencing technology, the school is at the cutting edge of educational innovation. We have strong community links and a supportive P&C. Our school is a part of the newly formed Mirrool Creek Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (AECG). This is a unique opportunity for a passionate educator to join our K-12 team to support the curriculum delivery in 7-12. The successful applicant will as a part of their role be supervising secondary teachers in a range of subject areas, leading curriculum in our secondary faculty and leading professional learning in-line with our Strategic Excellence Plan. The role includes aspects of supporting student behaviour across the school. You may be expected to teach out of your subject area.


Selection Criteria

Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,
  • Demonstrated capacity to be a dynamic and influential member of the executive leadership team in delivering whole school strategic directions and enhancing a culture of high expectations.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively across the school through flexible leadership, outstanding organisation and high quality relationship building to foster positive behaviour management strategies.

General Selection Criteria

1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
