Perkins Builders is looking for a dedicated and proactive HSE Officer to join our South West team and play a key role in ensuring our construction sites meet the highest standards of safety and compliance.
THE ROLE
Reporting to the HSE Advisor, as a HSE Officer, you’ll work alongside our project teams to promote and maintain a safe working environment across our sites. You’ll support site compliance, conduct inspections, deliver inductions, and assist in building a strong safety culture within Perkins and our subcontractor network.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct site inspections and advise on HSE compliance
- Support the project team and subcontractors to close out corrective actions
- Coordinate and deliver site inductions and assist with employee HSE training
- Review and assist with SWMS, JHAs, and hazard management
- Participate in incident reporting and investigations
- Manage site safety equipment, signage, and first aid resources
- Drive continuous improvement of HSE systems and documentation
- Assist with WorkSafe inspections, audits, and regulatory compliance
- Support the integration of HSE software (Hammertech) and documentation management
- Promote and measure a positive safety culture across all project sites
THE CANDIDATE
What You’ll Bring
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationships
- Sound knowledge of construction industry safety standards and legislation
- Strong computer literacy and ability to manage HSE documentation
- Certificate IV in WHS (or equivalent practical experience)
- Internal Auditor qualification (or willingness to obtain)
- Current First Aid certificate
- Minimum 2 years of commercial construction experience is preferred
- Construction White Card and a valid driver’s licence
