About us

Fonterra’s Spreyton site is a key part of our Tasmanian operations, processing high-quality dairy products that serve both local and international markets. The site plays a crucial role in milk processing, cheese production, and warehousing.

About the role

We’re looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Inventory Assistant to join our team at Fonterra’s Spreyton site. In this hands-on role, you’ll support our engineering, maintenance, and production teams by managing spare parts, consumables, and inventory systems to ensure smooth operations across the site. You’ll also provide backup support to the Inventory Controller and play a key role in maintaining our MEX database and engineering stores. Key Responsibilities

• Receive and label incoming deliveries; manage goods receipts in MEX
• Maintain accurate stock levels and cycle counts
• Create catalogue items and manage bin locations
• Support inventory control procedures and internal audits
• Maintain engineering and satellite stores, including recyclables and gas stocks
• Assist with racking inspections and store reorganisation
• Respond to inventory requests and close out work orders efficiently

About You

We’re on the lookout for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment and has a knack for keeping things organised. Ideally, you’ll come from a background in inventory, logistics, or warehousing—but we are able to the right person with a translatable skillset. You’re also tech-savvy, confident navigating IT systems, and quick to pick up new digital tools. You can also demonstrate:

• Experience in a similar stores or inventory role (preferred)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Familiarity with MEX or SAP systems (advantageous)
• Strong attention to detail and time management skills
• A collaborative mindset and willingness to support continuous improvement
• Forklift licence (preferred but not essential)
