The Opportunity
This position is responsible for assisting in the coordination and delivery of project Configuration Management (CM) activities in accordance with the CM Plan. The role supports the Configuration Management Lead in the day-to-day delivery of CM project activities and deliverables, helping to meet both project and Austal CM objectives.
Effective CM activity on this project will support customer acceptance of each vessel and enable successful handover to sustainment activities. The role also involves identifying process improvement opportunities and supporting the implementation of CM functions – planning, identification, control, status accounting, and auditing.
What’s involved
- Assist in the coordination and delivery of project CM activities.
- Assist in the completion and close-out of CM activities in accordance with project plans and schedules.
- Ensure accurate capture of configuration information/changes within Teamcenter Unified.
- Assist in the coordination and conduct of Configuration Audit and reporting activities.
- Regularly report CM status.
- Act on behalf of the CM Lead in their absence.
- Assist in the coordination, maintenance, and assessment of CM impacts for the project Engineering Change Process and facilitate the process.
- Adhere to and maintain processes to ensure outputs are delivered consistently.
- Contribute to continual improvement of established processes.
- Facilitate teamwork between internal and external parties.
- Support integration of disciplines across project activities (e.g., Design to Production, Electrical to Mechanical, etc.).
You'll need
Essential
- Health and Safety Construction White Card
- Certificate IV or higher level in a technical discipline
Desirable
- Relevant maritime degree or trade qualification preferred
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Effective communication skills; and competency in Microsoft Office and standard engineering software
- Knowledge of configuration management principles, practices, and standards
