Childcare Photographer – Capture Smiles & Make an Impact!
Do you have a big personality, boundless energy, and the confidence to make a complete fool of yourself just to get a smile? Are you the type who can win over a room of toddlers without even trying?
We’re Melbourne’s largest childcare photography team, and we’re looking for future photographers. But here’s the deal: every photographer starts as an assistant. Why? Because the most important part of this job isn’t the camera. It’s the connection.
If you are already a photographer, that can make the transition faster. But you still need the personality we are describing. If you are shy, quiet, or conservative, this role is not for you. Please only apply if you truly match this description.
If you can make kids laugh, keep them engaged, and bring sunshine into a room, you can learn the photography.
The Path:
- Step 1 – Assistant Phase:
Learn our process, support the photographer, manage the day’s flow, and prove you can build an excellent rapport with children aged 0–5.
- Step 2 – Photographer Promotion:
As soon as you show us you’ve got the magic, we’ll put the camera in your hands. Sometimes this happens within weeks, sometimes it takes longer.
The Role:
- Casual contract with close-to-full-time hours during the season.
- Monday to Thursday, sometimes Fridays (often finishing early on Thursdays).
- Typical hours: 7:45 AM – 3:00 PM (half-days possible at week’s end).
- Travel to different childcare centres within 20km of Melbourne CBD.
- Help set up shoots, engage kids, and keep the energy high.
- Cull and upload images from home. No editing required.
Why This Job Rocks:
- Pay: $31.90 – $47 per hour + Superannuation (depending on role, bonuses, and gear).
- Perfect summer schedule. Work until the second week of December, then enjoy summer off until mid-February.
- Full training provided. We care more about your personality than your portfolio.
- A team that loves what we do (and has a lot of fun doing it).
What We’re Looking For:
- Outgoing, bubbly, positive personality. Not afraid to be silly.
- Strong rapport with children and childcare staff.
- Reliability and a professional work ethic.
- A car and Working with Children Check (or willingness to get one).
If you’re ready to bring joy to kids, charm the room, and eventually get behind the camera, apply now!
