Macquarie Geotechnical is a Geotechnical Consulting / Drilling & Construction Materials Testing company working on both civil and mining infrastructure projects throughout Australia. We maintain a fleet of modern drill rigs, support equipment and tools that are at the forefront of the industry.
We are seeking a Laboratory Manager to work in our NATA-accredited Melbourne Laboratory.
Reporting to the CMT Operations Manager, you will be responsible for:
- Daily operation of the Melbourne laboratory;
- Facilitate and co-ordinate the daily testing requirements of the client
- Mentoring and coaching of staff to develop their testing skills;
- Ensure data integrity and validation of all filed and laboratory data
- Ensure Lab quality systems are adhered to and work with QA Manager to ensure all requirements of NATA are met
- Prepare Client details, project requirements and submit testing schedules in accordance with the Company’s electronic log in management system.
- To be responsible for the safe working conditions of your team and ensure all the necessary PPE gear is worn both on site and in the laboratory.
- Overseeing the sampling, testing and reporting in accordance with the specifications, using appropriate test methods;
- Preparation of test reports and generating invoices;
- Reviewing all test reports issued with NATA endorsement before approval and issue to clients;
- Management of the appropriate maintenance and calibration of all laboratory equipment; and
- Manage (including coaching and training) staff to ensure the highest operational, technical and WHS quality standards are met, and to increase competence and improve performance of staff on a continual basis.
- Participation in the development of business opportunities around the Melbourne region and liaison with the General Manager to identify additional new income streams;
To be considered for this opportunity, you will possess:
- Experienced in testing of soils, aggregate and concrete testing to relevant Australian and Vic Roads standards;
- Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques, Diploma or Degree-qualified;
- Knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 requirements;
- Previous NATA Signatory
- Knowledge of WHS compliance and responsibilities;
- Demonstrated problem solving involving research, analysis and evaluation of information;
- Australian Driver’s licence;
- Current or eligible for Nuclear gauge licence
