About the Role
Sunshine Coast Council is seeking a passionate and experienced Landscape Compliance Officer to join our Development Services Branch. The branch enables sustainable development for the community on the Sunshine Coast by working with industry stakeholders to achieve timely, customer focused development assessment services, advice, and advocacy
In this dynamic role, you’ll be at the forefront of ensuring ecological, landscape, and horticultural compliance across development projects. You’ll work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver timely, customer-focused assessment services that support our region’s growth and sustainability goals.
- Assess and ensure compliance of landscape, ecological, and horticultural works.
- Provide expert advice on development applications and planning conditions.
- Conduct inspections and audits of contributed public assets and infrastructure.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to support sustainable growth and community outcomes.
This position is based at Sunshine Coast City Hall , in the heart of Maroochydore CBD. This state of the art and sustainable building is designed to achieve an innovative and collaborative workspace.
About you
You bring formal qualifications in landscape architecture, ecology or a related field—or equivalent experience in environmental or construction industries.
You’re confident navigating complex legislation, policies and planning schemes, and thrive in multidisciplinary teams where your technical expertise drives sustainable outcomes.
With strong communication and project management skills, you build effective relationships, resolve issues, and contribute to a collaborative, high-performing Council environment.
Pre-Employment Medical Required
Essential to your success is physical agility and the level of fitness, strength and dexterity to carry out labouring and frequent heavy lifting & bending. As such, appointment to this position is subject to completion of a pre-employment medical assessment.
