MLC School is looking for a passionate and enthusiastic Learning Enrichment Teacher (known internally as a Learning Enhancement Teacher) who will educate and inspire young women to be fearless thinkers with moral courage and compassion to be agents of change in their own lives and in the lives of others.
The ideal candidate will have qualifications in Special Education and experience with vision impaired students, EAL/D or students with additional needs in a Senior School setting.

About the position

Learning Enrichment Teachers actively develop and coordinate innovative teaching programs to address the identified learning needs of students. Enhancement at MLC School is targeted to meet the needs of students at all points upon the learning continuum for students of all abilities. Programs reflect the strategic goals and priorities of the School and include tracking of individual student progress and ongoing consultation with staff to implement appropriate differentiated strategies. As a member of the Learning Enhancement Department at MLC School, the Learning Enrichment Teacher works collaboratively with classroom teachers, external professionals, other school specialists and families to ensure that each student is motivated, encouraged and supported to reach her personal best.

Key Accountabilities include:

  • Establishing trusting relationships with students whilst setting high expectations.

  • Maintaining records of progress, supported by the collection of data and ongoing review of students learning profiles.

  • Teaching one to one and/or in small groups and/or staff teams as appropriate.

  • Working collaboratively with class teachers to make adjustments to teaching and learning programs and assessments where appropriate.

  • Tracking the ongoing measurement of student’s progress and development. Success is measured by students achieving beyond pre-set benchmarks and is fully integrated into subject learning.

  • planning, implementing and evaluating educational programs that foster the social, emotional, cognitive and physical growth of students, confirming that the programs cater for the learning needs and wellbeing of all students;
  • planning, designing and delivering differentiated learning programs that address variations in learning styles and ability levels;
  • incorporating the appropriate use of ICT and related technologies into your teaching practice to enhance student learning in the classroom;
  • delivering service excellence to parents and carers by proactively engaging with and responding promptly and courteously to enquiries and requests for information;
  • ongoing development of classroom practice and a collaborative approach to teaching and learning
  • contributing to the ‘whole girl’ learning experience through your contribution to co-curricular programs ;and
  • ongoing personal and professional development.
