The Role
We believe in the power of connection, and our Remote Services team is at the heart of making that happen across Australia’s most remote communities. We’re on the lookout for a passionate and experienced leader to take on the role of Manager, Remote Services – a role that blends strategy, leadership, and hands-on impact.
In this exciting position, you’ll lead and mentor a team of Remote Coordinators, ensuring services are safe, effective, and truly responsive to the needs of the communities we work alongside. You’ll play a pivotal role in building trusted partnerships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, while also driving service growth, innovation, and continuous improvement. We are looking for a person who is connected to Aboriginal and Torres Strait communities and has a strong understanding of the historical, geographic, health, social and emotional wellbeing needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
This isn’t your everyday management role – one day you might be supporting your team with service logistics and partner relationships, the next you could be shaping strategies to grow our impact in our communities. Your ability to combine operational excellence with cultural awareness will be key to helping us positively connect more people across Australia.

In a nutshell this role will:
- Lead and support a team of Remote Coordinators to deliver safe, effective services aligned to Orange Sky’s mission.
- Drive strategies to expand reach, strengthen partnerships, and improve service efficiency in remote communities.
- Identify growth opportunities, support new service launches, and oversee logistics and maintenance.
- Champion a data-driven approach to monitor performance, impact, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee risk assessments, incident management, and safety practices to ensure strong safety culture across all services.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with First Nations communities, partners, government, and funders.
- Provide coaching, mentorship, and professional development to team members, fostering engagement and growth.
- Manage operations to achieve both strategic and day-to-day objectives while contributing to organisational reporting and improvement.

The applicant ideally has experience in a similar role within a fast-paced organisation, ideally within the not-for-profit sector and working with diverse stakeholders. Orange Sky is committed to improving remote and Indigenous services and strongly encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Additionally, the ideal applicant has:
- At least 2 years’ leadership experience leading teams in program development, operational support, preferably in a not-for-profit organisation.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications, or equivalent experience.
- Understanding of principles of public health (highly desired).
- Demonstrated ability to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and their leaders, respecting traditional culture, values, and ways of doing business.
- Demonstrated understanding of the health, social, and emotional wellbeing needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
- A track record of enhancing processes through a proactive and growth-orientated mindset.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a highly diverse range of people and manage a large and diverse workforce.
- Strong written communication skills and proven problem-solving ability.
- Excellent time management skills, with the ability to manage complex and competing demands and meet deadlines.
- Ability to travel and work flexibly as required.
- Capacity to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- A proactive attitude, resilience, and a genuine passion for our cause.
Special Conditions: All applicants must nominate an Aboriginal person or a Torres Strait Islander person who can attest to their ability to meet the cultural capability criteria. This person may be a community member, supervisor or work colleague.
