Based in Mackay, Australian Conveyor Engineering (ACE), part of Fenner Conveyors a Michelin group of companies, specialise in providing engineered conveyor solutions for surface and underground mining clients who demand reliability and performance. In our mechanical workshop, we seek a Mechanical Fitter who will be responsible for the mechanical maintenance, service, repairs, and assembly of conveyor systems, structures, and components.

A Day-to-day:
- Contribute to the company's overall safety objective of '100% Safe Behaviours and conditions, today' by actively reporting any near misses, hazards or incident
- Interpret engineering drawings and work to specs
- General assembly of conveyor equipment and components
- Perform general mechanical fitting work including fitment and alignment of gearboxes and motors, laser alignment, fitment and removal of couplings
- Maintain and use mechanical equipment and effectively diagnose and fault-find
- Inspect, analyse and record critical mechanical information during the process of undertaking refurbishment work
- Escalate and communicate problems and issues with Workshop Supervisor
- Trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter.
- Minimum 3+ years’ mechanical fitting experience including fitment and alignment of gearboxes and motors, laser alignment, fitment and removal of couplings and general assembly of conveyor equipment and components
- General machining experience, use of lathes and milling machines
- Previous experience working in a heavy industrial environment.
- Bearing and or gearbox disassembly/assembly experience
- Pulley overhaul experience (desirable)
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic Dogging or Rigging ticket (desirable)
- Current/valid Forklift ticket
