Role Overview:
As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will play a key role in supporting participants with their daily living, social inclusion, and overall wellbeing. You will work across a variety of settings including community environments, group-based activities, and one-on-one in-home supports.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide emotional, practical, and psychosocial support to individuals living with mental health conditions and/or disabilities
- Support participants to achieve their NDIS goals through structured activities and routine-based tasks
- Assist with daily living skills such as cooking, cleaning, personal care (where required), and household management
- Facilitate engagement in group programs, community outings, and social inclusion activities
- Promote independence, choice, and empowerment in all aspects of support
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date progress notes and documentation
- Work collaboratively with families, allied health professionals, and the BRB team to provide consistent, high-quality care
- Respond calmly and appropriately to challenging behaviours or mental health crises using a trauma-informed and person-centred approach
- Adhere to all relevant NDIS, WHS, and BRB Social Services policies and proceduresKey Requirements:
- Previous experience in a similar role within the disability, mental health or community sector preferred
- Valid First Aid and CPR certificate
- Working With Children Check (WWCC)
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Current Australian driver’s licence and reliable vehicle with comprehensive insurance
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexibility to work across different shifts, including weekends if required
Job Types: Part-time, Casual
Pay: $43.23 per hour
Expected hours: 10 – 25 per week
