Australian Red Cross Migration Support Programs (MSP) work to assist migrants in transition to ensure they have their humanitarian needs met and are participating and included in Australian society.
The MSP team in Victoria currently delivers the following programs:
- The Supporting Asylum Seeker Initiative (SASI) provides short-term casework support to clients seeking asylum, helping them to connect with relevant services to support their needs.
- The Connect Match Support (CMS) Employment Pathways Program aims to connect clients to employment pathways that foster meaningful connection and financial independence, providing job readiness support and connecting with businesses.
- The Support for Trafficked People Program (STPP) provides casework support to victim-survivors of modern slavery and human trafficking offences. The program aims to meet the safety, security and overall wellbeing needs of victim-survivors, as they recover from their experience and rebuild their lives.
As a Casework Support Volunteer, you will assist the MSP team by providing both practical and administrative support. This may include preparing support resources, data entry, supporting employment workshops, and attending outreach appointments with caseworkers and clients. You will also play a role in helping clients achieve their self-identified goals while ensuring confidentiality and safe practice.
This role is suited to someone with strong communication and organisational skills, who enjoys working with people from diverse backgrounds and is open to learning. Lived experience of migration, multilingual skills, or an interest in social justice are highly valued.
Red Cross will provide training, ongoing guidance, and opportunities to build your understanding of the migration support work as part of the wider humanitarian network.

As a Casework Support Volunteer, you will work alongside people navigating complex circumstances which include vulnerability, displacement, or exploitation. By assisting with day-to-day tasks, workshops, and outreach, you will help clients feel supported, connected, and better equipped to achieve their goals.
At the same time, you will gain valuable experience working in a humanitarian setting, develop your skills alongside a dedicated team, and deepen your understanding of migration and social justice issues. You will be part of the global Red Cross Movement, contributing to positive change for individuals and communities.
