The Opportunity
We’re looking for a driven News Studio Pilot to join our Regional News team and ensure the highest professional standards of on-air presentation across local news and updates.
In this role, you’ll work closely with News Editors, Chiefs of Staff, Journalists, Camera Operators, and Presenters, and report directly to the Studio Team Leader. The position is based in Launceston, Tasmania.
What you'll do:
- Prepare and deliver regional news content in collaboration with editorial and studio teams.
- Direct and switch live and pre-recorded bulletins, promos, and updates, providing clear guidance to crew.
- Contribute to pre-production planning, produce graphics, and edit stories and promos using broadcast software and equipment.
- Uphold broadcast quality standards, troubleshoot issues, and ensure studio facilities and equipment are production-ready.
- Actively participate in team meetings, share ideas, and support continuous improvement of workflows.

You have strong organisational, problem-solving skills, communication, and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to effectively manage competing priorities under tight deadlines. You’ll also bring:
- Tertiary qualification in media, production, journalism, or a related field
- A passion/ enthusiasm for broadcast television and live production
- Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to troubleshoot effectively
- Ability to learn new systems, tools, and workflows quickly.
- A strong technical aptitude and the ability to grasp technical concepts and processes
- Previous experience in live studio or broadcast environments (desirable)
