The Opportunity
Orrcon Steel is looking for an Operations Manager to join our Manufacturing team based in Salisbury, QLD. Orrcon Steel is a manufacturer of steel tube and pipe and leading Australian steel distributor with nationally recognised brands.
We’re seeking for operational leader who thrives on building strong teams, enhancing processes and creating a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
Where you’ll truly make an impact is by continuing to uplift Salisbury - growing team capability, embedding disciplined operational and maintenance practices, and supporting a culture of accountability, safety and inclusion. You’ll help prepare the site for future growth while being backed by a collaborative national and state leadership team.

What Will You Do?
In this role, you’ll oversee the full scope of operations at Salisbury, delivering against national priorities while also shaping and executing the site’s specific plan.
Key areas of focus will include:
- building team capability: coaching, mentoring and developing leaders and supervisors to help them grow their people leadership skills.
- championing safety culture: embedding strong safety practices and creating a workplace where people feel safe, valued and supported.
- driving operational improvements: embedding Manufacturing Excellence and problem-solving disciplines and applying Lean principles to reduce costs, waste and variation.
- strengthening workforce stability: creating clear career pathways and supporting team engagement.
- preparing Salisbury for the future: enabling automation and robotics initiatives while supporting continuous improvement.
- collaborating across the network: sharing best practice and aligning with state and national improvement initiatives

You’re a collaborative and approachable leader with operational expertise and a genuine passion for people and performance. You bring both strategic thinking and the ability to work alongside teams on the ground, providing clarity, motivation and support.
To be successful in this role, you’ll demonstrate:
- demonstrated leadership experience in operationally complex environments, such as manufacturing, logistics, supply chain or comparable industries.
- strong people leadership skills: able to engage, develop, and build accountability across diverse teams.
- a strong commitment to safety: with experience influencing culture, setting standards and ensuring compliance.
- resilience and adaptability: thriving in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- collaborative
- a collaborative approach: skilled at building partnerships across sites, functions and levels to achieve shared goals.
- exposure to continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean or Manufacturing Excellence will be highly regarded.
