Primary objective
Participate as a member of the Orderly Team to support the Gove District Hospital staff in their delivery of care to consumers
of Gove District Hospital.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Facilitate movement of patients, equipment and associated items throughout the hospital and campus. Assist with
constant care patient duties under supervision of a registered nurse.
2. As a member of the orderly team foster a positive workplace culture and respond to requests in a timely and safe manner
3. Cleaning of designated areas / equipment etc. and assisting with the safe storage/supply of medical gases.
4. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being
undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
5. Preserve patient dignity, privacy and confidentiality.
6. Perform mortuary duties and care of the deceased.
7. Collection and transport of linen, sharps, hazardous waste and pathology specimens within defined procedures.
8. Assist with food service to patient areas as required.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills in the provision of a client focussed
service.
2. Demonstrated ability to perform manual handling activities and be physically fit to perform these activities.
3. Commitment to teamwork within a diverse cultural and multi-disciplinary environment, including the ability to interact
with people from diverse cultures.
4. Demonstrated ability to take direction and effectively organise and prioritise workload.
5. Preparedness and capacity to work rostered shift work over a seven-day roster and an ability to share an “on call” roster.
6. Ability to use technology and information systems for the effective delivery of client services.
7. Hold a current Northern Territory (NT) driver’s licence or the ability to obtain.
Desirable
1. Previous experience in a hospital/health care setting.
2. Current accredited First-Aid Certificate or the ability to obtain.
