About the role
We’re on the lookout for a Payroll Officer who’s ready to roll up their sleeves and thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment!
Join a vibrant, supportive and well-established team in this a hybrid role, working 2 days a week from our North Sydney office, and 3 days remote. As Payroll Officer you'll manage key Payroll activities for the Vocus business and support the People & Culture team.
What you’ll be doing day-to-day
- Process payroll from beginning to end, ensuring everything is accurate, compliant, and always on time.
- Handle calculations for entitlements like overtime, leave, and terminations with precision.
- Reconcile payroll data and manage monthly payments (PAYG, super, tax) seamlessly.
- Be the go-to person for payroll queries, providing clear, quick, and helpful responses.
- Support our team with your expertise in payroll processes and policy know-how.
- Oversee the entire payroll process, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely execution.
- Accurately calculate entitlements such as overtime, leave, and terminations.
- Seamlessly reconcile payroll data and manage monthly payments, including PAYG, superannuation, and taxes.
- Serve as the primary contact for payroll queries, providing clear, prompt, and helpful responses.
- Support the team with your expertise in payroll processes and policy knowledge.
- Experience and Skills: 1–3 years’ experience in a full-function payroll role, with hands-on experience managing payroll for 800–2,000 employees. Familiarity with payroll legislation and the ability to find the latest updates.
- Attention to Detail and Adaptability: A sharp eye for detail, quick learning ability, and the capacity to stay calm under pressure and handle last-minute changes.
- Teamwork and Mentorship: A team player who is eager to learn, ready to be mentored, and communicates clearly, whether in quick chats or detailed emails.
- Technical Proficiency: Confidence with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook) and bonus points for experience with Dayforce.
- Organisational Skills and Curiosity: Organised, accurate, able to juggle priorities effectively, and always up for a challenge with a curious and collaborative mindset.
