Job Description
- Part-time (0.4FTE) position until December 2025
- Based at our Box Hill office on the lands of the Wurundjeri People
- $44 - 48.99 per hour + Super + Generous not for profit salary packaging
Are you passionate about supporting others on their recovery journey? We’re looking for an empathetic, experienced individual to join our team as Peer Worker within the Mental Health and Wellbeing Hub. In this role, you will use your lived experience to build meaningful, peer-to-peer relationships, inspire hope, and create connections that foster positive change and a brighter future for those navigating recovery.
Responsibilities include:
- Build mutual relationships based on shared experiences and curiosity, fostering hope and social change.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, customers, carers, and other community partner organisations to deliver the best possible comprehensive service to customers.
- Work as part of the team to provide a range of psychosocial and wellbeing supports to customers and their carers, both individually and in groups.
- Help clients develop their strengths and recovery goals, promote hope, choice, and social connectedness, and collaborate with staff and service providers to enhance recovery-oriented mental health and substance use services.

About you
We’re seeking a Peer Worker with the ability and willingness to self-reflect and share own experiences of recovery with others for the benefit of advancing their recovery.
The successful applicant will have:
- Lived experience of mental illness, substance dependence and/or trauma.
- Lived experience of the recovery journey.
- Demonstrated maturity, emotional intelligence, and personal resilience, which are essential for navigating challenges in the recovery process.
- Willingness to share personal recovery experiences to inspire and support others in their journeys, fostering a sense of community and understanding.
- Maintains a positive attitude towards change and adapts to new methods of working, demonstrating flexibility in approach.
Qualifications
- Cert IV in Mental Health Peer Work or equivalent/relevant qualification.
