About the Opportunity
We are currently seeking an experienced Pipe Fitter to add value to our Piping team. Reporting to the Production Piping Supervisor, you will play a pivotal role in applying Piping knowledge to the Maintenance program of the Collins Class submarines to further assist in the development and management of ASC’s long-term strategy.
Responsibilities
To be considered for this permanent full-time opportunity you will demonstrate experience across the following accountabilities:
- Demonstrated expertise in reading and interpreting structural drawings.
- White card.
- A sound knowledge of varied piping and fabrication trade related techniques.
- Demonstrated expertise in ensuring quality and high technical standards.
- Ideally a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the Fabrication / Piping of large complex engineering, shipbuilding and construction projects.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the Pipe Fabrication and Welding Fields.
- Indentured Apprenticeship or Traineeship with a background in Boilermaking / Piping or similar preferably with a post trade certificate.
- Demonstrated experience in the fabrication/plumbing and Pipe-bending / Pressure Vessels, plate work and large complex structures. Heavy Engineering experience will also be looked upon favourably.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of all types of fabrication and associated welding processes and their applications.
- Demonstrated experience in using different welding process e.g. Copper Brazing, GMAW, GTAW, MMAW.
- Proven ability to participate in the training and development of apprentices and operators as required.
- Demonstrated experience in supporting continuous improvement strategies across all areas of influence and responsibility.

This role requires an enthusiastic and organised individual. You will have the ability to communicate effectively at all levels, work autonomously and use initiative to produce quality technical pipe fitting outcomes. You will also need to demonstrate the ability to influence, encourage and work within a team and other supporting departments to produce successful and accurate outcomes.
Eligibility
This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
