The role

You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team responsible for administering the Pharmacy Business Ownership Act 2024 (Act).

As a newly established organisation, the Queensland Pharmacy Business Ownership Council (Council) offers a dynamic and fast paced environment that will require adaptability, responsiveness & a proactive mindset.

The Principal Licensing & Compliance Officer is responsible for the administration of complex licence applications for pharmacy businesses in QLD in accordance with legislation, delegations, policies & procedures in a 'start up' environment. The Principal Licensing & Compliance Officer will also undertake compliance monitoring & enforcement activities, such as inspections, as part of the Council's collaborative, educative & risk-based compliance monitoring programs

Responsibilities include:

Administering complex applications for pharmacy business licences & associated applications & notifications, promptly & accurately, in accordance with relevant legislation, delegations, policies & procedures
Making recommendations for decision-making to management & exercising delegated legislative decision-making functions as required
Preparing clear, accurate & compliant written documents such as statements of reasons for decisions, requests for information, outcome correspondence, information notices & other detailed documents, to support decision-making & application processes.

The successful person

To be successful in this position, you will have experience in a licensing or regulatory environment &/or have the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of, & interpret complex legislation, risk management strategies, standards & policies. You will be required to use your judgement & analytical skills to summarise complex information to inform & support recommendations for decision-making under the Act.

You will be a clear communicator with the ability to effectively liaise with internal & external stakeholders regarding licensing matters. In this position, you will work collaboratively as part of a small team.

You will have excellent file management skills with the ability to work independently & with a methodical & systematic approach in a dynamic environment. You will have strong prioritisation skills to meet deadlines & statutory timeframes, with a high level of accuracy & attention to detail.

You will have the ability to work in a complex environment, undertaking a variety of responsibilities with a positive & adaptable attitude.

Whilst not essential, a qualification or relevant experience in pharmacy, law, public health, regulation, licensing or investigations would be well regarded.
