Are you ready to make a meaningful impact in the aged care sector? St Basil’s is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Procurement Officer to join our dedicated team. This is a part-time position, working two days (or up to 15 hours) per week. Location is flexible (Christie Downs or St Peters).
Reporting directly to the Finance Lead, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing all contracts across our aged care services, with a strong emphasis on compliance with the new Aged Care Act and all relevant legislation regarding associated providers.
What You’ll Do
This is a dynamic role where attention to detail and the ability to prioritise tasks are key to your success.
- Lead and support the end-to-end procurement process in consultation with our contract leads at a corporate level (clinical, services, resident experience, workforce), ensuring full compliance with the new Aged Care Act, all relevant legislation regarding associated providers, and established industry standards, policies, and procedures
- Manage, review, and renew contracts with suppliers and service providers for all aspects of aged care operations, ensuring ongoing legislative compliance
- Negotiate favourable terms, prices, and service levels, always seeking value for St Basil’s while upholding compliance obligations
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and the broader aged care community
- Monitor contract performance, risk, and renewal schedules, providing regular reporting to the Finance Lead and ensuring legislative compliance is maintained
- Contribute to continuous improvement of procurement practices, cost efficiency, and compliance processes
This role is ideal for someone who demonstrates initiative, a positive “can-do” attitude, and a strong motivation to be part of a team. To succeed, you should have:
- Personal values that align with St Basil’s Homes (SA) values of courtesy and kindness.
- 2 to 5 years of experience in procurement, contract management, or a related field, ideally within aged care or health services
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and organisational abilities
- Ability to present financial data and comparisons in an easy to read format or business case
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality, compliance, and legislative requirements
- Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment
