This role is in the DroneShield Sydney headquarters in Sydney CBD. There are approximately 300 staff based in the 4,000sqm facility today, scheduled to grow to approximately 400 staff by end of 2025. Overseas on the ground presence includes USA, Denmark, Mexico, and UAE, as well as distributors in over 70 countries globally.
About the role
The Operations Team is expanding in response to increased production volume and product complexity. DroneShield is looking to recruit a Procurement Officer whose responsibilities will be critical in helping the business run smoothly during its next phase of growth.
The position will be part of the Procurement Team and will report directly to the Procurement Manager. They will work closely with the Production, Quality, Finance, Legal & Engineering Teams daily. This role will suit someone with excellent attention to detail and a passion for technology who wants to develop their career in a fast-moving ASX listed defence technology company.
Responsibilities, Duties and Expectations
- Requests for quotation from new and approved Suppliers
- Placing of Purchase Orders using our ERP system
- DIFOT management & due-date communications
- Purchasing of general supplies and production components alike
- Purchasing of R&D materials requested by Engineering
- Develop effective relationships with suppliers
- Perform value for money assessments
- Follow delegation of authority when releasing PO
- Any other procurement related activities as they arise
Qualifications, Experience and Skills
- 3-5 years+ Procurement experience required
- Experience in procurement for manufacturing, including BoM (Bill of Material) management
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent time management skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Intermediate Excel (Essential)
- Experience using ERP systems (Oracle preferred)
- Knowledge of engineering or technical environments (preferred)
