ROLE: Product Program Manager
Location: Sydney
Role duration: 24 month contract
Please note that due to the max term nature of this role, successful applicants will be engaged via a Volkswagen Group Australia (VGA) approved agency partner and not via VGA directly. Otherwise you will be working onsite/ hybrid at VGA as per typical working arrangements.

About your new Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a technically minded and solutions-focused automotive professional to join Volkswagen Group Australia on a 24-month contract with the potential for extension. In this fast-paced and highly specialised role, you will take ownership of local vehicle conversion programs and play a key role in the project management of new model launches for Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles. With a strong focus on engineering quality, supplier development, and program delivery, you’ll drive innovation and efficiency across all stages—ensuring every project meets Volkswagen’s exacting global standards.
Your main responsibilities will include:

Lead and coordinate monthly Product Launch Meetings, managing timelines and deliverables with internal and external stakeholders

Collaborate with Product and Conversion Managers to define project scopes, outputs, and technical requirements

Oversee quality assurance processes including design feasibility, prototype reviews, pre- and post-production audits, and compliance with ISO standards

Develop and implement governance frameworks to ensure all conversion activities meet Volkswagen Group quality, safety, and technical standards

Manage supplier relationships including partner selection, tender facilitation, component sourcing, and contract negotiations

Align procurement activities with VW Group systems and protocols, acting as subject matter expert for the VWCV conversion framework

Coordinate logistics and build planning for conversion vehicles, ensuring alignment with group logistics and production timelines

Support the integration of Connected Car features by managing project timelines, vendor relationships, and compliance reviews

Collaborate with Customer Care, Marketing, and Training teams to ensure successful rollout of Connected Vehicle services and content

Track and report on project performance metrics, feature utilisation, and Connected Vehicle subscription data

Contribute to continuous improvement and innovation across product, process, and partner relationships to optimise program outcomes
About you
To succeed in this role, you will need to possess the following:

Industrial Engineering/Project Management qualifications applicable to an automotive environment.

Manufacturing experience able to validate manufacturing costs for the conversion Projects. ( Industrial Plant , equipment & devices, automotive parts , tooling & development, direct labour & overhead)

Procurement Experience (Total Cost Ownership, Strategic Sourcing, Tendering and Contract Management)

Supplier development and supplier relationship management experience

Project management experience

Understanding of Consumer Law in retail or manufacturing industries

Demonstrates high levels of emotional intelligence and ability to modify style of customer experience

Strong attention to detail and time management skills

Change management experience

Low risk decision making ability

Demonstrates high levels of professionalism & integrity
