Our client, J.S KANDOLA & S MORE & P SINGH GILL, is looking for a dedicated and knowledgeable Production Horticulturist to support the planning and execution of crop production activities. This role focuses on optimising plant growth, monitoring crop health, implementing integrated pest and disease management strategies, and assisting with harvesting and post-harvest processes. The ideal candidate will have a background in horticultural science, practical on-farm experience, and a keen eye for detail in maintaining crop quality and yield. Duties:
· Ensure that all land preparations are done as per established procedures.
· Train / monitor operators where required to ensure tasks are done as per standard procedures
· Prepare working programmes daily / weekly / monthly to facilitate implementation of respective tasks
· Assess quality of work and take corrective actions where applicable
· Ensure that all material inputs are adequate for respective operations
· Ensure the upkeep of all tractors and implements
· Liaise with Farm Operation Manager / Agronomist/ Maintenance Manager where required
· Operate various tractors and implements
· Identify and report unusual disease or plant pest signs
· Operate pressurised irrigation systems
· Prepare and apply chemicals to control pest, weeds and diseases
· Coordinate horticultural crop harvesting
· Fumigate soil
· Manage, install drainage systems
· Monitor and manage nursery plants
· Operate spreading and seeding equipment
Qualification:
· AQF Certificate IV or Higher
· 2-4 years of experience in related field.
· At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
