Hills Transplants Pty Ltd, Tasmania’s leading nursery and herb production business, is seeking a full-time Herb Production Supervisor to join our team. Key Responsibilities:
·Oversee daily operations of the herb production shed and nursery area, including harvest readiness and hygiene.
·Ensure crops scheduled for harvest meet quality standards and have passed their withholding period.
·Maintain harvest equipment and coordinate repairs or maintenance where needed.
·Ensure correct harvest to suit conditions of crop, soil moisture and variety to minimize any mechanical damage
·Monitor product quality throughout the harvest period, identifying and correcting issues as needed.
·Identify and report unusual plant pest or disease symptoms immediately to the relevant managers.
·Prepare and apply chemical treatments to control weeds, pests, and diseases according to WHS and label requirements.
· Store and transport agricultural chemicals in compliance with legislative requirements and company procedures.
·Operate and calibrate chemical application equipment (e.g., backpack sprayers or automated dosing systems).
·Establish horticultural crops as per seeding schedules and growing plans.
·Implement post-harvest programs including hygiene procedures, quality checks, and traceability to minimize contamination and damage.
·Perform routine nursery and propagation activities to support crop growth and supply continuity.
·Regulate crops by adjusting light, water, nutrients, and temperature as required.
·Carry out emergency pest/disease control protocols on-site when directed by management.
·Coordinate worksite activities including assisting with rostering, and safe work procedure training.
·Liaise closely with the Herb Production Manager, Farm Operations Manager, Maintenance Supervisor, and QA team to ensure smooth and safe operations.
·Ensure company Work Health and Safety (WHS) requirements are followed, including use of correct signage, PPE, and incident reporting protocols.
·Ensure product quality and food safety standards are maintained throughout production and harvest, including correct handling and hygiene practices.
·Oversee or support packing activities, ensuring products are packed according to specifications, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations.

Skills and Experience Required:
- 2+ years in horticulture or nursery supervision.
- Experience handling herb crops and understanding of pest/disease management.
- Strong organisational and leadership abilities.
- Knowledge of WHS, chemical application, and hygiene compliance.
Language Requirements:
Applicants must have a good command of written and spoken English for workplace communication and compliance.
