We are seeking an enthusiastic Project Officer to join the team within the Research Portfolio in the Faculty of Business and Law at Curtin University. In this role you will play a crucial part in ensuring the smooth operation of the area, providing essential support across various administrative functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative assistance to the Dean, Research, including diary management, arranging travel and assisting with the preparation and submission of financial acquittals in line with institutional policies.
- Coordinate arrangements for meetings and local area events.
- Provide event coordination and operation support for internal events including but not limited to sourcing and organising venues, catering, suppliers and promotional activities.
- Manage and facilitate project communications and liaise with relevant stakeholders to coordinate their input to the project.
- Assist with the development of relevant business case and project initiation documentation (PID) as required, including timelines, implementation and evaluation methods and communication strategies.
- Coordinate the implementation of project plans and initiatives.
- Track and monitor activities, providing regular and accurate reports against project schedules and performance indicators to stakeholders as appropriate.
- Provide executive support to research committees, working parties and stakeholder meetings (e.g. briefing papers, minutes and agenda papers and general correspondence).
- Resolve operational problems and facilitate the development and implementation of initiatives, processes and systems for effective and efficient administration of the project.
- Identify impacts and risks associated with the project and report on these.
- Undertake project research tasks and compile and analyse data.
- Draft project documentation and prepare project reports.

- Undertake other activities which the incumbent might reasonably be expected to do, and which are consistent with the accountabilities and responsibilities as listed above.
Experience:
- Considerable relevant work experience in a busy office environment is essential.
- Previous experience in a tertiary environment would be highly regarded.
- Demonstrated organisational/project management skills with the ability to coordinate and implement project activities.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and oral communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with a diverse range of people and with cross cultural sensitivity.
- Demonstrated effective written communication skills with the ability to construct clear and concise reports.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple and often competing tasks with attention to accuracy and detail within deadlines.
- Demonstrated research and analytical skills.
- Advanced computer skills, particularly in the Microsoft suite of applications.
- Proven ability to work well in a team, including respecting difference, supporting others, accepting direction and working to group goals.
- A willingness to help out other team members and to conduct tasks outside the parameters of this job description if required.
- Flexibility to pivot and adapt to changing needs and priorities.
- Demonstrated initiative and problem-solving skills.
- As this is a fixed-term contract, you will require current work rights in Australia that match the tenure of this role.
- This position is based at our Curtin Bentley campus and candidates are expected to be currently located in Perth, WA. Relocation and sponsorship support will not be provided for this position.
